The Wednesday Run: Dynamite lights a match with John Wick #1

Can a beloved action character make waves on the printed page? That’s what we’ll find out this week, when Dynamite releases John Wick #1, based on the successful film franchise.

Following two big movies starring Keanu Reeves, the character of assassin/enforcer John Wick is now the focus of a series from superstar writer Greg Pak. Here’s what to expect from the first issue, titled JOHN WICK: BOOK OF RULES PART ONE:

When a young John Wick emerges from prison and embarks upon his first epic vendetta, he comes up against a strange, powerful community of assassins and must learn how to master the Book of Rules that guides their lethal business. What are the Three Bills? Who is Calamity? And who was John Wick before he became the Baba Yaga?

It will definitely be interesting to see how the franchise translates to comic books, which is why John Wick #1 is our big pick of the wick…I mean, week.
