‘The Hitman’s Bodyguard’ looking to knock off the competition
Two new movies are looking for an audience this weekend, but with summer coming to a close, will either of them make waves at the box office? Here’s our prediction:
The Hitman’s Bodyguard is an action-comedy starring Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson. The trailers have been entertaining but, while both actors are well known and popular, neither one of them are capable of opening movies to large numbers (Reynolds as Deadpool is the obvious exception). Review have been unkind to The Hitman’s Bodyguard as well, so while we’re predicting a first place debut for the film, it will be with a less than stellar $16 million.
As for the rest of the top five, last week’s number one, Annabelle: Creation will drop to second place with $15 million, though it may manage to grab the top spot if the numbers are close. Lucky Logan, Steven Soderbergh’s new crime film, will debut in third place with $10 million. Dunkirk will be in fourth place with $9 million, while The Nut Job 2 will close things out in fifth place with $7 million.
So, to recap, here are our predictions:
1) The Hitman’s Bodyguard – $16 million
2) Annabelle: Creation – $15 million
3) Lucky Logan – $10 million
4) Dunkirk – $9 million
5) The Nut Job 2 – $7 million
Be sure to check back on Sunday to see how the weekend turns out!
