Well, it’s the dog days of sum…hold on, didn’t we do this already? Really, there’s no clever way of talking about the final weekend of August. There are few new releases, none of which have any sort of buzz going for them. Will any wind up in the top spot? Here’s our prediction:
Owen Wilson. you are not a leading man in an action film material. That means, I don’t anticipate anyone going to see No Escape this weekend. Trailers have been uninspiring, and turnout is going to be the same. Look for a fifth place debut with $6 million.
Also out this weekend are War Room and We Are Your Friends, neither of which have anything going for them other than a potential faith based audience for the former and Zac Efron for the latter. Unfortunately, these being the dog…stop it Andy! Anyway, neither film will make much impact – look for debuts outside the top five.
As for the top five itself, Straight Outta Compton will continue in the top spot with $18 million. Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation will grab second place with $9 million. The Man From U.N.C.L.E. will be in third place with $7 million, while Sinister 2 will hit fourth place with $6.5 million.
So, to recap this lacklustre weekend, here are our predictions:
1) Straight Outta Compton – $18 million
2) Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation – $9 million
3) The Man From U.N.C.L.E. – $7 million
4) Sinister 2 – $6.5 million
5) No Escape – $6 million
Be sure to check back on Sunday to see how the weekend turns out!
