Avengers: Age of Ultron looks to decimate box office totals this weekend

This weekend sees the North American release of arguably the most anticipated super hero film of all time. The question we have isn’t will it be number one, it’s how many records will Avengers: Age of Ultron make on its way to the top spot. Here’s our prediction.

When Marvel’s The Avengers debut in cinemas three years ago, it became the first film to bring in more than $200 million in its opening weekend. It was an amazing achievement, and one that Avengers: Age of Ultron will no doubt reach itself, while making even more money during the process. While the reviews are not nearly as glowing as the first film, they are still solid for the most part. Not that they matter, though. The hype machine has been in full force, with media swings by all the principal cast members helping maintain the word. There’s no doubt the reaction this weekend is going to be huge, and it will have the box office results to prove it. Look for a first place showing with a record breaking three day weekend of $225 million.

As for the rest of the top five, Furious 7 will drop to second place with $10 million. Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 will hit third place with $6 million, with The Age of Adaline right behind it with $5.5 million. Home will close things out in fifth place with $5 million.

So, to recap, here are our predictions:

1) Avengers: Age of Ultron – $225 million
2) Furious 7 – $10 million
3) Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 – $6 million
4) The Age of Adaline – $5.5 million
5) Home – $5 million

Be sure to check back on Sunday to see how the weekend turns out!
