It’s the Thanksgiving long weekend for our friends in the US of A, and they’ve got some new movies to choose from. Will any of them top the box office? Here’s our predictions:
Horrible Bosses 2 is the obvious sequel to the successful Jason Sudeikis/Jason Bateman/Jennifer Aniston flick from a few years ago. While that film was regarded as a breakout hit and pretty darn funny, the sequel has been getting less than stellar reviews. It’s also opening during a hugely busy weekend, which isn’t going to help its chances for success. The highest profile of the new releases, look for a third place showing with $26 million.
The other big new release is Penguins of Madagascar, which should do very well with families that have already taken in Big Hero 6. Look for a second place showing with $32 million.
As for the rest of the top five, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 should hold on to the top spot with $52 million. Big Hero 6 will be in fourth place with $15 million, while Interstellar will close things out in fifth place with $13 million.
So, to recap, here are our predictions:
1) The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 – $52 million
2) Penguins of Madagascar – $32 million
3) Horrible Bosses 2 – $26 million
4) Big hero 6 – $15 million
5) Interstellar – $13 million
