Toil And Trouble And Wytches #1 On The Wednesday Run

WYTCHES 1 CoverWe’re well into one of Biff Bam Pop’s favourite months of the year, the one where the leaves start to change to orange and then blood red in colour, where the air starts to get a little more chill, and where the nights start to get a little longer and a little blacker.

Of course, lucky us, that obviously means the release of television shows and movies the fit within the suspense and horror genres.

Comic books are no different. And this week sees the release of one of the most highly anticipated new series of the year – let alone a horror title – in Wytches.

Follow me after the jump where we’ll take a look and see what’s cooking inside the couldren!

Wytches #1

Written by: Scott Snyder

Illustrated by: Jock

Published by: Image Comics

Written and illustrated by fan-favouites Scott Snyder (Batman, The Wake, American Vampire) and Jock (Snapshot, Batman), Wytches is published by everyone’s favourite publisher of genre fiction, Image Comics.

Yep. It’s Image Comics again, releasing another sure-fire hit.

Of course, we all know of the burning at the stakes, the hangings, and the drownings of people thought to be witches. It’s been going on around the world for centuries: the murder and persecution of people, men, women and children, over something misunderstood or deemed evil.

Wytches embraces that dark side of human history (and, perhaps, it’s present), and expands upon its mythological components.

Witches, true witches, you see, are very much real. They’re as old as time, rarely seen – and, as the trades for the new Wytches monthly comic book tells us, rarely survived. What happens, then, when the wytches start to creep out of the woods that have been hiding them for so long, slowly getting closer to the neighborhoods – the workplaces, schools and houses in which we live?

It’s a horror and a terror that we have never experienced before!

This October, the fire burns. Make the run to your local comic book shop today and pick up Wytches #1. Let’s all partake of this bubbling cauldron together!
