This weekend’s winner is going to be a no-brainer, regardless of how poor the reviews are (16% rotten at Rotten Tomatoes as of this writing). So the question is, just how much money will the flaming pile of Michael Bay garbage bring in? Here’s our prediction:
Fessing up here, I skipped the last Transformers film after the incredibly awful second movie that I spent money on. Gosh, that was an absolutely horrible experience. But hey, summer audiences love to watch giant robots smash stuff up, which I’m assuming we’re getting with Transformers: Age of Extinction. I don’t know, I’m not seeing it, but maybe you will, alongside the masses who will make this yet another hit. Look for a first place showing with $120 million.
As for the rest of the top five, look for 22 Jump Street to continue its solid run, hitting number two with $14 million. Think Like A Man Too will be in third place with $12 million. Maleficent will grab fourth place with $10.5 million, while How To Train Your Dragon 2 will be close behind in fifth with $10 million.
So, to recap, here are our predictions:
1) Transformers: Age of Extinction – $120 million
2) 22 Jump Street – $14 million
3) Think Like A Man Too – $12 million
4) Maleficent – $10.5 million
5) How To Train Your Dragon 2 – $10 million
Be sure to check back on Sunday to see how the weekend turns out!
The reviews are terrible. Am not going to see it. Didn’t see the last one until on Demand.
