Dead or alive, one film is hoping to be number one at the box office this weekend. Will it make it? Here’s our prediction:
Against all odds, the Robocop remake that is now in theaters has been receiving a fair amount of positive notice from audiences and critics (it was released this past Wednesday). Does the acclaim mean it will top the box office? Well, not really. The LEGO Movie is going to be the go to film for audiences this weekend once again – it’s got the raves, the appeal to families and isn’t rated R. Look for The LEGO Movie to hit number one with $45 million, while Robocop will come in second place with $24 million.
Find out how the rest of the top five will turn out after the jump!
A few other new releases enter the frey this weekend – the comedy About Last Night, and the romances Endless Love and Winter’s Tale. While it may be Valentine’s weekend, I don’t see any of these films making huge impacts. Look for them to bring in $16 million, $15 million and $13 million, respectively. The Monuments Men will keep Winter’s Tale out of the top five, with $15.5 million
So, to recap, here are our predictions:
1) The LEGO Movie – $45 million
2) Robocop – $24 million
3) About Last Night – $16 million
4) The Monuments Men – $15.5 million
5) Endless Love – $15 million
Be sure to check back on Sunday to see how the weekend turns out!
