Gravity vs Runner, Runner – Biff Bam Pop’s Box Office Predictions

It could be a huge weekend at the box office, as a colossal superstar team-up looks to get you into theatres. Can they do it? Here’s our prediction:

Gravity_PosterGravity has had amazing buzz since its first trailer debut, with a floating in space Sandra Bullock. The film looks big and bold, and the combination of Bullock and George Clooney should be a can’t miss prospect. Throw in stellar reviews from critics everywhere, and Gravity should be an easy number one this weekend. Look for it to pull in a strong $45 million.

Find out how the rest of the weekend will turn out after the jump!
Runner_Runner_film_posterAlso debuting this weekend is Runner, Runner, which teams-up Ben Affleck and Justin Timberlake in a crime film about online gambling. You’d think that this would be a surefire hit – Affleck is coming off his Argo Oscars and JT’s new album The 20/20 Experience Part 2 just dropped this week. Buuuuuuut…Affleck’s casting as Batman could cause him some serious backlash, just like the tepid review for Timberlake’s album won’t help the film either. Add in the fact that nobody is giving Runner, Runner good reviews, and I’m doubting audiences will be…running out to see this one. Look for a third place debut with $15 million.

As for the rest of the top five, Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2 will fall to second place with $20 million. Prisoners will grab forth place with $6.5 million, while Rush will round things out in fifth with $5.4 million.

So, to recap, here are our predictions:

1) Gravity – $45 million
2) Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2 – $20 million
3) Runner, Runner – $15 million
4) Prisoners – $6.5 million
5) Rush – $5.4 million
