As you likely know, Biff Bam Pop is based out of Toronto, Canada (though we’re proud to say our friends and colleagues Glenn Walker, Lucas Mangum, Marie Gilbert and Emily McGuiness are straight out of our neighbours to the south), which means we get to cover some very cool local horror events around this time of year. This time out, it’s Halloween at the TIFF Bell Lightbox, where they’re going to be featuring some very cool horror films in October.
Find out the details after the jump!
From October 25th – 31st, you can catch a never-before seen digital presentation of The Exorcist Director’s Cut for a special limited run. Get the details here.
If you’re looking for something awesome to do on Halloween night, the TIFF Bell Lightbox is offering up a Canadian horror Double Bill, as part of the Canadian Open Vault Series. The first film is 1980’s The Changeling – “Grieving after suffering a horrible family tragedy, a composer (George C. Scott) moves into an ominous mansion that holds a terrible secret (literally) within its walls.”
The second feature is the 2000 werewolf classic Ginger Snaps, staring Katherine Isabelle – “Cleverly equating the onset of puberty with the unleashing of an implacable feminine id, this revisionist take on the werewolf legend is both a celebration of female power, a critique of the dangers of conformity, and a smart, scary, straight-up horror film.” Screenwriter Karen Walton will be introducing the film. You can find out more details and how you can purchase deluxe passes at the TIFF website.
If you’re in Toronto at the end of October, you know where the scares will be.
