Ahh the holidays. Twinkling lights, softly falling snow, carolers caroling …and the urgent, relentless moans and shuffling steps of the undead! That’s the kind of holiday the discerning zombie fan in your life desires, and now you can give it to them with a the newly-released documentary film More Brains!: A Return to the Living Dead.
Anyone who grew up a horror fan (or big chicken like myself) in the 80’s is familiar with 1985’s Return Of The Living Dead, a flick just as famous for it’s bad ass punk-fueled soundtrack than it’s terrifying oil drum zombie (affectionately known to fans as “Tarman”), or Linnea Quigley’s cemetery dance scene. A critical AND (moderate) box office success, the film spawned four sequels and a cult following to boot.
More Brains is a must have for fans of the original ROTLD film, or film buffs in general. The disc contains a two hour documentary with never-before-seen material, but it’s the extras included with the disk that really make this a stand out gift for the zombie junkie in your life. Included on the dvd are deleted interview scenes from the documentary itself, interviews with cast and crew from the first three “Return of the Living Dead” films, a behind the scenes tour, bloopers and more. My personal favourite extra is entitled “Return of the Living Dead in 3 Minutes” which features actors reenacting their most memorable lines from the film – gold! This film and its extras would be a welcome addition to the horror buff’s collection.
