After years of attempts at a film adaptation, the movie version of Stephen King’s 1979 novel The Long Walk is slated to march into theaters this September. Directed by Francis Lawrence (The Hunger Games) from a screenplay by JT Mollner (writer and director of Strange Darling), The Long Walk focuses on a group of young men in a contest to see who can walk as far as possible. Like always, there’s a catch. Only one person can win, the sole survivor of the journey. Overseen by the Major (a scruffy, barking Mark Hamill), the boys must go until they can’t.
