31 Days of Horror 2022: Gilbert Speaks on Eli Roth’s “A Ghost Ruined My Life”

Who doesn’t like a good ghost story, right? Biff Bam Pop is definitely delivering the frights for Halloween. I got to watch Season 2 Episode 1 of A Ghost Ruined My Life, and it was scary!

A Ghost Ruined My Life

Before we jump into the review of S02 E01, let’s talk about acclaimed director Eli Roth. Eli is best known for his portrayal as the bat swinging Sgt. Donnie Donowitz in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Bastards, and in Tarantino’s Death Proof.

Roth made his directorial debut in the film Cabin Fever, followed by Hostel, Hostel Part 2, and Knock Knock…which makes him my kind of horror loving guy. But he isn’t satisfied with just horror, Roth also directed the 2018 fantasy, The House with the Clock in Its Walls.

On television, Roth hosted Shark Week and Shark After Dark. He is also a champion of animal rights and made a documentary called Fin which tells the plight of the beautiful sharks. But it is the horror shows like Eli Roth’s History or Horror, The Haunted Museum and A Ghost Ruined My Life that you probably know him from. In the series A Ghost Ruined My Life, Eli presents paranormal tales told by the people who were attacked by ghosts, demons, and all kinds of spooky entities.

Newlywed Nightmare

S02 E01 of A Ghost Ruined My Life, released on October 14th on T& E’s Creep Week, opens with Aline, who was working at the front desk of a Brazilian Hotel until she fell in love with John. It was a whirlwind romance and after getting married, John takes Aline to America to live. John works long hours away from home, and Aline (Camila Aguirre) is lonely because she doesn’t speak the language that well, and the home is isolated so there are no neighbors to befriend.

It isn’t long before Aline starts to feel a presence in the house. This entity only makes itself known to Aline. John does not see or hear what Aline experiences. He thinks she is crazy. This entity begins to harass Aline to the point where she is afraid to be in the house. She has no one to talk to and her family not only lives so far away, but they are deeply religious and would probably not believe what she is going through. Aline makes the mistake of using a Ouija board to learn why the entity is there. BIG MISTAKE! The attacks increase after that. Aline does more research and learns that the entity is an Incubus. This is one of the nastiest demons. With her marriage in shambles, and the attacks increasing, Aline finally reaches out to the church.

Conclusion

This episode was truly frightening. I have a friend who went through a similar ordeal, and it took a long time for her to get rid of the Incubus. As you know, if you have been following my posts here, I have been seeing the dead since I was a toddler. Luckily, I have never encountered a demon or any hellish entity…and that may be because I have my own army of dead people that protect me. Plus…I know that GOD has my back.

What brought that demon into Aline’s life? I think it was despair. She was far away from her family. She had no friends. Her husband worked long hours and when Aline tried to tell him about the attacks, he belittled her and made fun of her fear. Demons don’t go after happy people. We are poison to them. The next thing that I want to stress here is this: Never buy a Ouija Board! Never use a Ouija board! Never participate in a séance with someone who is not a professional! I don’t know how many clients that I have helped that innocently opened the door to a negative spirit by using a Ouija Board.

Make sure to watch the new season of Eli Roth’s A Ghost Ruined My Life, but keep the lights on….BOO!
