Something wicked this way comes…
A24’s The Green Knight was one of the most gripping medieval films of the past few years and one of my favourite theatre experiences (see Scotty G’s review here) since the ol’ multiplex opened it’s doors again, post-COVID (mid-COVID?). Well, A24’s dropped the trailer for it’s new, black-and-white adaptation of Macbeth, originally written by some dude named Bill.
I might not be the biggest fan of Shakespeare (‘Speare-head’?), but The Tragedy of Macbeth boasts one of the most stunning trailers I’ve seen this year, and with ultra-heavyweights Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand as Lord and Lady Macbeth, respectively, they’ve got me sold. This adaptation is also the solo directorial debut of Joel Coen (of the Coen Brothers fame), which adds to the project’s intrigue. Corey Hawkins as Macduff, Sean Patrick Thomas as Montieth, and Brendan Gleeson as King Duncan also round out the cast.
Check out the trailer for The Tragedy of Macbeth, which is set for theatrical release on Christmas Day.
