Trailer Time: ‘Halloween Kills”

You can’t kill the boogeyman…

In a year that has already featured Spiral, A Quiet Place Part II, The Conjuring Part 3, and will feature The Forever Purge and a grip of great-looking indie fare, it’s no small thing to be the horror event of the year. But with tonight’s reveal of the first (literally) explosive trailer for David Gordon Green’s Halloween Kills, it sure seems like Michael Myers is coming for the crown for 2021.

Michael’s not out here looking for hugs, folks

A trailer that seems to reveal a lot while not exactly giving away the whole game, Halloween Kills sure isn’t short on, uh, kills. It definitely makes me think that if this is what they’re doling out in the trailer, how brutal is this movie going to be? With any luck, very.

Jamie Lee Curtis’s Laurie Strode is not having any of your bullshit today

One aspect that I think is interesting is the trailer’s talk of ‘transcending’ and when Jamie Lee Curtis’s Laurie Strode remarks that “a man could not have survived that fire.” To me, that sounds like they’re pushing this thing in a supernatural direction. Don’t forget that the followup film and the apparent finale of the Laurie/Michael saga, Halloween Ends, is scheduled for release next year.

But that’s enough blabbering from me. Buckle up for this one, because this is Halloween Kills.

Halloween Kills is directed by David Gordon Green and stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer, and Andi Matichak. It’ll be released in theatres on October 15.
