Trailer Time: James Gunn’s ‘The Suicide Squad’

It’s been a good couple weeks for the DCU trying to correct previous mistakes, and one of the most anticipated attempts is the upcoming release of James Gunn’s reimagining of The Suicide Squad.

This thing has nearly every non-Marvel-affiliated star you can name (and also some Marvel-affiliated ones) attached to it, including John Cena, Joel Kinnamen, Michael Rooker, Taika Waititi, Idris Elba, Viola Davis, Alice Braga, Margot Robbie, Sylvester Stallone, Sean Gunn, and Nathan Fillion. The 3-minute red band trailer (sorry kids, get your parents permission first) just oozes Gunn’s sense of humour and the deliciously irreverent tone he brought to Guardians of the Galaxy and Super, a personal favourite.

Get this trailer up in your face ASAP! If you’re of an appropriate age, of course.

The Suicide Squad is written and directed by James Gunn and hits theatres and HBO Max on August 6, 2021.
