It’s been a big week in the world of Nintendo. There was the Nintendo Direct showcase on Wednesday that confirmed what fans have been waiting for, that being the arrival of Splatoon 3 on the Switch in 2022. As it happens, Splatoon 2 is the Biff Bam Pop Princess’ favourite game, so as you can imagine she’s pretty darn psyched about the news, even if she has to wait “one whole year.”
Luckily, she been able to keep busy with Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, the new game that arrived this past Friday. In fact, she’s been enjoying so much that she’s actually been taking time off Splatoon 2 to dive deep.
BBP Princess: And I’m almost done the game, by the way!
Oh, hello there. I see you’re contributing to this review, is that right?
BBP Princess: Yep!
Ok then, let’s get started. What are these games all about? Because there’s two of them, right?
BBP Princess: Super Mario 3D World is about some rainbow fairies called the Nixies. Instead of Peach this time, Bowser kidnaps all of the Nixies! The object of the game is to save the Nixies from Bowser.
How do you do that?
BBP Princess: You can choose from four characters – Mario, Luigi, Toad and Peach. You have to go through levels in multiple worlds, and at the end of each world you find a Nixie.
What do you like about this game?
BBP Princess: There are lots of different power-ups, including one that turns your character into a cat! I really like playing as a cat because you can climb up walls and jump super high, and also, they’re just cute!
What are the graphics like for Super Mario 3D World?
BBP Princess: The graphics are AMAZING! They’re really easy to look at, I find. The colours are very vibrant, I really like them.
How about the gameplay?
It is very easy to get to know the controls, and it’s just fun. I could pick up and play right away.
Is there anything hard about Super Mario 3D World?
BBP Princess: Not exactly. If you start failing enough times on a level, you get an invulnerability suit. When you get the suit, it makes it so even if you touch any enemies it won’t hurt you. That makes the game more fun because you don’t get stuck on a level for too long.
That sounds good to me. Now, tell me about Bowser’s Fury. It looked pretty cool when I was sitting with you.
BBP Princess: I can’t say too much about, because I haven’t played too, too much of it. I was more into Super Mario 3D World.
That’s fair. Can you tell me anything about it?
BBP Princess: I know Bowser seems to have gotten very angry and transforms into the Fury Bowser we’ve all seen in the trailers. It’s up to Mario and Bowser Junior to use the giga bells to transform Mario and save the Mushroom Kingdom from Bowser.
Some people online have said that Bowser looks like a giant Kaiju, like Godzilla or King Kong. What do you think?
BBP Princess: I agree. Even though I don’t know what a Kaiju is.
You’ve definitely been spending lots of time with Super Mario 3D World – what made this one so good that you’ve paused playing Splatoon 2?
BBP Princess: It’s just fun. You can play with friends or family. I just really like it.
