‘Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)’ Looking To Light Up The Box Office

It’s a blockbuster weekend at the box office, as Birds of Prey, the first comic book film of 2020 arrives with a bang.

Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is an R-rated woman power film starring Margot Robie as the title character, the one who was the big breakout from 2016’s less than stellar DC film Suicide Squad. This time out, the anti-heroine is joined by The Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), and Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez) to take on Black Mask (Ewen McGregor). Reviews for the Cathy Yan-directed film have been outstanding, with it currently sitting with an 86% score at Rotten Tomatoes. Even if it drops in the next day or so, its definitely going to be better regarded than Suicide Squad and should have a strong showing. Look for a first place debut for Birds of Prey with $62 million.

As for the rest of the top five, Bad Boys For Life will be in second place with $12 million. 1917 will grab third place with $8 million, with Dolittle following in fourth place with $5 million. Jumanji: The Next Level with close things out in fifth place with $4.5 million.

So, to recap, here are our predictions:

1) Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) – $62 million
2) Bad Boys For Life – $12 million
3) 1917 – $8 million
4) Dolittle – $5 million
5) Jumanji: The Next Level – $4.5 million

Be sure to check back on Sunday to see how the weekend turns out!
