Can ‘Hustlers’ Strip the Box Office Crown From ‘IT: Chapter Two?’

Can this weekend’s big new release show some hustle at the box office, or will it be stopped from the top by the reigning horror champ?

Hustlers is the dramatic stripper story that premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival to rave reviews. Star Jennifer Lopez has been getting some of the best reviews of her career, and with the presence of Cardi B and Constance Wu, the film is looking to have a great showing this weekend. Will it be able to take out IT: Chapter Two from the top spot? Maybe not quite, but Hustlers will definitely be competitive. Look for a second place showing with $30 million.

Also new this weekend is another TIFF debut, The Goldfinch. Unfortunately, reviews have been absolutely horrible for the film, and audiences are likely going to give this one a pass. Look for it to debut in third place with $9 million.

As for the rest of the top five, though underperforming when compared to the original, IT: Chapter Two will remain on top of the box office with $33 million. Angel Has Fallen will be in fourth place with $4.5 million, while Good Boys will close things out in fifth place with $3 million.

So, to recap, here are our predictions:

1) IT: Chapter Two – $33 million
2) Hustlers – $30 million
3) The Goldfinch – $9 million
4) Angel Has Fallen – $4.5 million
5) Good Boys – $3 million

Be sure to check back on Sunday to see how the weekend turns out!
