‘Once Upon A Time In…Hollywood’ Looking For A Fairy Tale Debut

This weekend sees the release of Once Upon A Time In…Hollywood, the ninth film from Quentin Tarantino. Will it be able to compete against last week’s number one film?

I’m extremely excited to see Once Upon A Time In…Hollywood. I love California, I’m fascinated by the year 1969 and the Manson Family. Throw in the always solid Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt, and my love for Tarantino’s work, and this movie is definitely speaking my language. And while it may make for a hot August (well July) night for adult audiences, I’m not sure Once Upon A Time In…Hollywood is really being released at an ideal moment. Big dramas don’t really do well during the summer months, and there’s absolutely no way the film will knock The Lion King out of the top position. However, Brad and Leo together should give it a solid second place debut with $38 million.

As for the rest of the top five, Disney’s The Lion King will remain at number one with $98 million. Spider-Man: Far From Home will be in third place with $13.5 million. Toy Story 4 will be in fourth place with $9 million, while Yesterday will close things out in fifth place with $4 million.

So, to recap, here are our predictions:

1) Disney’s The Lion King – $98 million
2) Once Upon A Time In…Hollywood – $38 million
3) Spider-Man: Far From Home – $13.5 million
4) Toy Story 4 – $9 million
5) Yesterday – $4 million

Be sure to check back on Sunday to see how the weekend turns out!
