Will ‘The Kid Who Would Be King’ Rule the Box Office?

It’s going to be a relatively quiet weekend at the box office, though one new release will be looking to be king of the cinema.

The Kid Who Would Be King is a kid-centered, contemporary fantasy film that takes its inspiration from the stories of King Arthur. Though director Joe Cornish’s Attack The Block has become a cult classic, his name isn’t a big drawing card. Reviews have been strong, though, and families looking for something to do may wind up checking this one out. Look for a third place debut with $10 million.

As for the rest of the top five, I’m expecting a significant drop for Glass from its $40 million opening. Look for it to hold on to the top spot with $19 million. The Upside will be in second place with $11 million. Aquaman will be in fourth place with $7 million while Serenity, the new thriller starring Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway will battle horrible reviews to arrive in fifth place with $5 million.

So, to recap, here are our predictions:

1) Glass – $19 million
2) The Upside – $11 million
3) The Kid Who Would Be Kid – $10 million
4) Aquaman – $7 million
5) Serenity – $5 million

Be sure to check back on Sunday to see how the weekend turns out!
