The fix was in this weekend, as Ocean’s 8 debut at the top of the box office with some record numbers for the franchise.
This new installment, toplined by an outstanding female cast, hit number one with $41.5 million, larger than any of the previous, male-driven films. Clearly, the gender swap and the decent reviews were enough to get audiences into theaters. However, it’s going to be a short reign at the top for Ocean’s 8, as next weekend it will have to contend with the arrival of The Incredibles 2.
As for the rest of the top five, Solo: A Star Wars Story dropped tho second place with $15.1 million. Deadpool 2 was in third place with $13.6 million.
