It’s the calm before the war this weekend, even with two new releases looking for your hard earned dollars at the box office this weekend. Will a sequel to a cult comedy favourite make a dent? What about the latest from Amy Schumer? Here are our predictions:
Amy Schumer’s I Feel Pretty is the latest starring vehicle for the comedian, and is the story of an insecure woman who hits her head and awakens to believe herself the most beautiful and capable woman in the world. While Schumer found success as a stand-up, her last starring vehicle, Snatched (with Goldie Hawn) was underwhelming. Unfortunately, things are looking pretty bleak for this film as well, with I Feel Pretty currently sporting a 36% fresh ranking at Rotten Tomatoes. Schumer as a leading lady just isn’t cutting it right now, so look for the film to debut in third place with $15 million.
Also out this weekend is Super Troopers 2, the sequel that fans may have been looking for but that’s mainstream crossover chances are fairly slim. Look for this to debut outside the top five.
As for the rest of the top five, A Quiet Place will likely return to the top spot with $24 million. The underperforming Rampage will fall to second place with $20 million. Ready Player One will be in fourth place with $6.5 million, while Blockers will close things our in fifth place with $5.5 million.
So, to recap, here are our predictions:
1) A Quiet Place – $24 million
2) Rampage – $20 million
3) I Feel Pretty – $15 million
4) Ready Player One – $6.5 million
5) Blockers – $5.5 million
Be sure to check back on Sunday to see how the weekend turns out!
