Kingsman and The LEGO Ninjago Movie enter the box office battle

Two new movies are looking to taking down horror’s reigning king, and either one of them might just do it. Here’s our prediction:

Kingsman-2-New-Character-poster-1

Kingsman: The Golden Circle is the sequel to the surprise Matthew Vaughn-directed hit from 2015. The cast is key here, with Channing Tatum and Jeff Bridges as new additions to the action franchise bringing the hype to the goodwill the series has already generated. The trailers have been strong, and audiences are not doubt ready to see the character of Eggsy back in action. Look for Kingsman: The Golden Circle to debut in first place with $39 million.

Also new this weekend is The LEGO Ninjago Movie. This will no doubt be the pick for families heading to theatres this weekend, but it certainly won’t be the hit that The LEGO Batman Movie was. Look for a second place debut with $37 million, with a chance that the first and second place films could switch places.

As for the rest of the weekend, look for It to fall to third place with $35 million. American Assassin will be in fourth place with $8.5 million, while Home Again will close things out in fifth place with $3 million.

So, to recap, here are our predictions:

1) Kingsman: The Golden Circle – $39 million
2) The LEGO Ninjao Movie – $37 million
3) It – $35 million
4) American Assassin – $8.5 million
5) Home Again – $3 million

Be sure to check back on Sunday to how the weekend turns out!
