Captain America: Civil War to make all the money this weekend
As usual when it comes to these obvious box office predictions, no preamble is needed. Let’s get right into the predictions:
Captain America: Civil War is Avengers 3 by any other name, seeing as how it includes virtually all the Marvel Cinematic Universe major players, less Thor, Hulk and the Guardians of the Galaxy. In the film, Team Captain America goes up against Team Iron Man as our heroes battle over the Sokovia Accords and being run under government auspices.
So far, Civil War has been getting incredible reviews, with it currently sitting at 93% fresh at Rotten Tomatoes, a significantly stronger showing than last summer’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, which had a still solid 75% fresh when it was released. Throw in the film debut of Black Panther and a new Spider-Man in the form of Tom Holland, and Civil War has the makings of not just a blockbuster, but a HUGE blockbuster. With that in mind, we’re predicting the film will debut in first place with $210 million.
As for the rest of the top five, Disney’s The Jungle Book will fall to second place with $2o million. Mother’s Day will hit third place with $6 million. The Huntsman: Winter’s War will be in fourth place with $5 million, while Keanu will close things out in fifth place with $4.5 million.
So, to recap, here are our predictions:
1) Captain America: Civil War – $210 million
2) Disney’s The Jungle Book – $20 million
3) Mother’s Day – $6 million
4) The Huntsman: Winter’s War – $5 million
5) Keanu – $4.5 million
Be sure to check back on Sunday to see how the weekend turns out!
