Batman first crossed paths with Superman in 1952, within the pages of Superman #76. That story was such a hit with fans that DC Comics decided to make their team-up a regular occurrence and transplanted their bosom buddy stories to the bi-monthly (and then monthly, because, you know, popular!) World’s Finest with issue #71 in July 1954.

In the Batman & Superman In World’s Finest: The Silver Age Omnibus Vol. 1, you’ll get all of those heroic team up stories from the beginning of the silver age of comic book publishing! The nearly 150-page hardcover book collects the previously mentioned Superman #75 as well as World’s Finest #71-96. Witness the greatest heroes in the world as they battle villains such as Lex Luthor, Mr. Mxyzptlk, Joker and space-faring aliens, while teaming up with Robin, Batwoman, Lois Lane and even Bat-Mite!

The Batman & Superman In World’s Finest: The Silver Age Omnibus Vol. 1 is truly a treasure trove of storytelling from a distinct era in the pantheon of comic book pop culture. The stories here are written by many of the industry greats including Edmond Hamilton, while being illustrated by various legends including Dick Sprang and Curt Swan. With an introduction by contemporary comic book master and fan-favourite, Mark Waid, and an afterwards by comics historian Jim Amash, the Batman & Superman In World’s Finest: The Silver Age Omnibus Vol. 1 is a great addition to any collectors or burgeoning fans library.

Although it’s a bit of a steep price at upwards of $75, the Batman & Superman In World’s Finest: The Silver Age Omnibus Vol. 1is still a worthy purchase.

Make the run to your local comic book shop today and pick it up…and remember: even though you might be hearing much to the contrary over the coming weeks, Batman and Superman are still the world’s finest friends!
