Mockingjay will soar this weekend

You know and I know that there’s only one film this weekend that’s going to hit number one, and we both know it’s going to do it with a huge number. So let’s get right into it shall we. Here’s our prediction:

After four years, The Hunger Games saga comes to a close with Mockingjay Part 2. The film franchise that made Jennifer Lawrence into a mega-star is sure to go out with a big blockbuster bang. What kind of money are we talking about? I’m predicting that the film is going to get pretty darn close to the $150 million mark this weekend, as fans clamour to see the final hurrah of Katniss Everdeen. On that note, look for a first place showing with a massive $135 million opening.

Also out this weekend is The Night Before, a comedy starring Seth Rogen, Anthony Mackie and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Consider this counterprogramming that really isn’t going to make much headway with audiences who are going to be swept up in the Hunger Games fever. Look for a second place debut for The Night Before $18 million.

As for the rest of the top five, Spectre will hit third place with $15 million. The Peanuts Movie will be in fourth place with $13.5 million, while Love The Coopers will close things out in fifth place with $6 million.

So, to recap, here are our predictions:

1) The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 – $135 million
2) The Night Before – $18 million
3) Spectre – $15 million
4) The Peanuts Movie – $13.5 million
5) Love The Coopers – $6 million

Be sure to check back on Sunday to see how the weekend turns out!
