John Wick vs Ouija – Biff Bam Pop’s Box Office Predictions

It’s the weekend before Halloween, which means another horror flick is looking for the top of the box office bragging rights. Will it score, or will the return of Keanu Reeves hold it off? Here’s our predictions:

Ouija_2014_posterOuija is a film about, get this, a ouija board. Pretty self explanatory, which should certainly help bring in horror hunger audiences looking for scares. There are no stars in this one, so the film is going to have to rely upon the kindness/desperation of strangers to perform. On that note, look for a $24 million debut to top the box office this weekend.

Also out this weekend is action flick John Wick, marketing the return of Keanu Reeves to a big budget film. Reeves is the title character, a former hitman who comes out of retirement to avenge the loss of his dog. Yes, you just read that. But, John Wick has been getting decent reviews and people do like Keanu, so this one could do better than expected. Look for a second place showing for John Wick with $18 million.

As for the rest of the top five, look for last week’s number one, Fury, to hit the third spot with $16 million. Gone Girl will grab fourth place with $14 million, while Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day will close things out in fifth with $10 million.

So, to recap, here are our predictions:

1) Ouija – $24 million
2) John Wick – $18 million
3) Fury – $16 million
4) Gone Girl – $14 million
5) Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day – $10 million

Be sure to check back on Sunday to see how the weekend turns out.
