Will The Maze Runner Spring To The Top? Biff Bam Pop’s Box Office Predictions

Three new movies are looking for your dollars, but only one is a lock for the number one spot at the box office. Here’s our predictions:

The_Maze_Runner_posterThe Maze Runner is the adaptation of the popular young adult novel of the same name, a dsytopian tale about a group of boys trying to find their way out of a changing labyrinth/maze (hence the title). There are no mega-stars in the film, which is toplined by Dylan O’brien from MTV’s teen wolf. I feel like there’s been some genuine hype and hope for this film, so it should perform better than some of the more recent YA adaptations. Look for The Maze Runner to debut on top with $40 million.

Also opening this weekend is A Walk Among The Tombstones, staring Liam Neeson in yet another action flick. Neeson + action tends to be a decent draw, but notice about this particular film has been a little light, so don’t expect Taken numbers. Instead, A Walk Among The Tombstones should debut in second place with $19 million.

The final big release of the weekend is the comedy This Is Where I Leave You, an ensemble comedy featuring Tina Fey and Jason Bateman. A strong cast, but not a ton of buzz around this one; the film will debut in third place with $13 million. As for the rest of the top five, No Good Deed will drop to fourth with $11 million, while Dolphin Tale 2 will close things out in fifth with $10 million.

So, to recap, here’s are our predictions:

1) The Maze Runner – $40 million
2) A Walk Among The Tombstones – $19 million
3) This Is Where I Leave You – $13 million
4) No Good Deed – $11 million
5) Dolphin Tale 2 – $10 million

Be sure to check back on Sunday to see how the weekend turns out!
