Will Snitch Rat Out Dark Skies? Biff Bam Pop’s Box Office Predictions

Two new releases are looking for your buck this weekend – will either of them claim the top spot? Here are our predictions.

Snitch_PosterDwayne Johnson is beginning his saturation of movie theatres this weekend – in the next few months we’ll see him GI:Joe Retaliation, Pain and Gain, Fast and Furious 6 and the first one out of the gate, Snitch. With his profile extra high because of his return to World Wrestling Entertainment and his upcoming headlining slot at Wrestlemania, a lot is riding on The Rock over the next few months. Luckily, the trailer for Snitch looks solid, and with his handsome mug all over the media, the film should do well. Look for a first place debut for Snitch with $17 million.

Dark_Skies_PosterAlso out this weekend is Dark Skies, a story about a couple trying to save their family from a strange presence. With the biggest name attached being Keri Russell, I wouldn’t expect huge things from this one. Though, it is PG, so it could nab the teenage audience. Look for what could be deemed a surprise second place showing for Dark Skies with $15.5 million.

As for the rest of the top five, A Good Day To Die Hard will drop to third with $14 million. Identity Thief will be close behind in fourth with $13.5 million, while Safe Haven will close things out in fifth with $11 million.

So, to recap, here are our predictions:

1) Snitch – $17 million
2) Dark Skies – $15.5 million
3) A Good Day To Die Hard – $14 million
4) Identity Thief – $13.5 million
5) Safe Haven – $11 million
