Isn’t every day video game day for the gamer in your life? Well, September 12 is actually celebrated as National Video Game Day, when the world gives us permission to love the hobby that I’ve been partaking in since my Intellivision in the 1980s.
At this point, video games have transcended consoles and graphics; thanks to characters and settings, they’ve made their way into TV shows, comic books, and movies. At the same time, iconic non-video game characters like Batman, Superman, James Bond and so many others are now featured in classic games, always with more on the way.
Our friends at LEGO have found the sweet spot of celebrating video games with their ongoing Super Mario and Minecraft sets; they’ve also been releasing builds of consoles like Nintendo’s Game Boy. And of course, there are the LEGO video games, which are always hugely fun. The most recent one, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, is one of their best yet. You can check out our review here.
To tie in with National Video Game Day, LEGO was kind enough to send us the Batman v Superman: Batmobile to build.
Unlike so many people, I LOVED Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, especially in its extended cut, which is pretty fantastic in my mind. Building Batfleck’s Batmobile was a lot of fun, for the most part, but apparently I’m not always great at reading instructions. The toughest part came at the end of the build, when I couldn’t get one of the wheels to stay on. I had to turn to Anya to take a look and found a few mistakes I’d made, but that helped the Batmobile finally be how it should be. I would say that it was a fairly fun set to put together, with minimal frustration overall.
