Osgood Perkins has had a busy year. After blowing our minds with the incredible Longlegs, one of my favourite horror films of 2024, the director is back with a new spook-a-doodle to kick off 2025.
Based on the short story by Stephen King from 1980’s Skeleton Crew collection, Perkins joins producer James Wan to bring the story of the accursed cymbal-smashing monkey toy to life this February. The original story is one of the most memorable of King’s short works, and depicts some extremely gnarly deaths and a compelling set of alternate and intersecting timelines that I’m sure ol’ Oz had a great time putting to film.
The Monkey stars Theo James, Tatiana Maslany, Elijah Wood, and Sarah Levy. Check out the new (absolutely not safe for work) trailer here ahead of the film’s release on February 21!
