Who hasn’t, as a child, told scary stories around a campfire. I still remember the scary stories from my childhood that were told around a campfire at a summer camp. Maybe this is why I am so drawn to watching and writing about horror. It’s better to face the monster…or is it?

Lore
Lore is a British horror anthology directed and written by Patrick Michael Ryder, James Bushe, Greig Johnson, and Christine Barber-Ryder. The anthology is broken into four scary stories with star Richard Brake as the campfire guide, and four campers, Mark (Dean Bone), Sally (Samantha Neale), Donna (Sally Collett), and Dan (Miles Mitchell) as the campers who set up tent in an area known for spooky things to happen.

Richard Brake is outstanding as the strange guide who gets each person to tell their favourite scary story as a way of reaching out to the dead. He tells them that there was an archeology dig in that very spot, and the bones of 3000 people were found. No one knows who they were or how they died.
The first story in this anthology is Shadows, written and directed by James Bushe. It tells the story of a man running from gangsters and finding a monster inside the warehouse he hides in. It stars Steven Blades, Bill Fellows, Andrew Lee Potts, Daniel John- Williams and Liam Scarth.
The second story is called The Hidden Woman, directed by Patrick Michael Ryder and written by Patrick and Christine Barber-Ryder. It tells the story of a haunted house that is inherited by a mother and her son…but Granny is not the friendly spirit that one would expect. It stars Jennifer K Preston, Theo Preston, and Jordaine Lincoln.
The third story is Cross Your Heart, written and directed by Greig Johnson. You might want to reconsider if you’ve ever thought about cheating on your spouse. They might have friends that will enjoy delivering Karma. It stars Rufus Hound, Katie Sheridan, Alana Wallace, and Charlotte Ryder.
The fourth story is called The Keychain Man, directed by Patrick Michael Ryder and James Bush, and written by Christine Barber-Ryder. This story was the scariest and tells what happens when three friends go to the movie theatre and have to deal with a disgruntled worker. It stars Jacob Anderton, Sarah Lewis Obuba, Christopher Mulvin, Davy Hopper, Greig Johnson, Sammy Dobson, and Finbar Healy as the keychain man.
Conclusion and SPOILERS
All four stories are scary, but it’s the very end of Lore that just might spook you the most. The Kaleidoscope film is on Icon Film Channel and premiers in UK cinemas on September 27th.
