Trailer Time: ‘Hellboy: The Crooked Man’ Appears to be a Hard Horror Film

There have been three Hellboy films so far, with the previous one, released in 2019 and directed by Neil Marshall, a fairly significant bomb following the reasonable success of the two Guillermo Del Toro-directed features. Which brings us to Hellboy: The Crooked Man.

For this new reboot of the Mike Mignola-created character, the director is Brian Taylor, whose previous film is the excellent Mom and Dad. Taylor has worked on the screenplay with Mignola and Christopher Golden, who wrote the original comic book the film is based on. Jack Kesy steps into the shoes of Hellboy, and based on what we’re seeing in the trailer, will have a different take on the character than both Ron Perlman and David Harbour.

While I didn’t have much interest when Hellboy: The Crooked Man when it was announced, I’m absolutely intrigued by our first look. The film looks to be going a hard horror route, and if that’s the case, count me in.

Hellboy: The Crooked Man is due out later in 2024.
