PARIS. – Burnaby, British Columbia hip-hop/R&B sensation PARIS. continues his meteoric rise in the Canadian music scene with his latest single “Take the Lead,” featuring OVO Sound’s Roy Woods, released via Partners Record Label and Universal Music Canada. Following the success of “4th Quarter” this spring which got the attention of the Toronto Raptors and SiriusXM, this new collaboration showcases PARIS.’s artistic growth. Produced by waytoolost (Nasty C, NLE Choppa), with mixing and mastering by Nick Niker, “Take the Lead” exemplifies PARIS.’ knack for blending his melodic flow with compelling lyrical storytelling. With each release, PARIS. solidifies his position as one to watch in Canada’s music scene.

About the new release, PARIS. says, “This song bridges the gap between Toronto and Vancouver – that’s what I love about it. It empowers both West Coast and East Coast women. Roy is such a respected and highly talented artist, so I’m happy we got to work together. He’s so dope melodically and has crazy range. Our brands align well too, we’re both for the girls. It made perfect sense for him to feature. Shout out to Roy, his team, and his management at OVO.”

Roy Woods adds, “It was easy and fun to write this song with PARIS. The concept was dope to begin with, and PARIS. did a great job on his end to bring back a classic 2015-2016 vibe, so adding my unique touch was a simple task.”

Wilderado – Tulsa’s own Wilderado unveils “Bad Luck,” the latest single leading up to their anticipated sophomore album Talker. Produced in Norman, Oklahoma, by Chad Copelin (Sufjan Stevens, SYML) and James McAlister (Gracie Abrams, The National), the band has been building momentum with previous releases that we’ve highlighted here in What’s Going On like the album’s acoustic-driven title track “Talker.” “Bad Luck” shines with its gorgeous instrumentation and melancholy feel. The band recently rocked Toronto’s Horseshoe Tavern and has tour dates extending into the fall, including sets at Lollapalooza and Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion.

When asked about this latest single, lead singer Max Rainer shared, “‘Bad Luck’ is one of my favorite songs on the record. One of the reasons is because of how little we edited it. It’s straight through on the drums, straight through on the guitars and same for the vocals. It has an immediacy that never leaves. The track felt like a safe place for pessimism and the reality that growing older kind of sucks. I felt like saying we’ve all got bad luck and things only get harder, however every once in a while you find a lover and a hotel. Maybe we’re living between moments of happiness, disbelief and secrets, but we’re getting by.”
