The Black Series has been going strong (?) for 13 years. As a Day One collector, I’ve seen my share of army builders. I’ve got at least a half dozen Stormtroopers, and more Biker Scouts than Speeder Bikes. It takes something unique to pique my interest at this point. In honour of May the 4th, Hasbro has me reaching for my wallet.
I love a gimmicky figure that doesn’t have to live the gimmick 24/7. The inclusion of a removable soft goods shirt allows you to celebrate May the 4th as needed and add another legion to your ranks the other 364 days of the year. You also get a fun novelty target that demonstrates each figure’s proficiency with a blaster. A nice window box with the May the 4th logo ties the subset together nicely.

STAR WARS: THE BLACK SERIES B1 BATTLE DROID MAY THE 4TH BE WITH YOU Available Spring 2026 exclusively at Target
Celebrate May the 4th by embracing the fun side of the Force with this special edition figure and a soft goods “Roger Roger Robotics” t-shirt. Pose out your figure with the included blaster accessory and the “target practice” poster of the legendary Jedi Anakin Skywalker.
The Battle Droid is my favourite of the three figures. “Roger Roger” is part of my regular vocabulary so I’ll more than likely steal the shirt for my custom Josh Wallen action figure’s wardrobe. The blaster fire striking the blade of the lightsaber on the Anakin Skywalker target is a chef’s kiss. These are Target exclusives. I’d love to see those warm pegs so I can scoop up a bunch on clearance. It will be interesting to see how they sell.

STAR WARS: THE BLACK SERIES SCOUT TROOPER MAY THE 4TH BE WITH YOU Available Spring 2026 exclusively at Fan Channel retailers
Celebrate May the 4th by embracing the fun side of the Force with this special edition figure and a soft goods “Endor Biker Club” t-shirt. Pose out your figure with the included blaster accessory and the “target practice” poster of the Endor forest’s defender, Wicket W. Warrick.
I’m convinced there’s some Mandela Effect shenanigans afoot. I always remember these as Biker Scouts. Is a Biker Scout sans his Speeder Bike simply a Scout Trooper? Is that the distinction? Whatever. They’re easily one of my favourite troopers, but without their bikes, they always felt a little incomplete.

STAR WARS: THE BLACK SERIES STORMTROOPER MAY THE 4TH BE WITH YOU Available Spring 2026 exclusively at Walmart
Celebrate May the 4th by embracing the fun side of the Force with this special edition figure and a soft goods “Pew! Pew! Pew! Squad Goals” t-shirt. Pose out your figure with the included blaster accessory and the “target practice” poster of fan-favorite scoundrel and Rebel hero, Han Solo.
When I saw the black shirt on a white Stormtrooper, my brain immediately jumped to black stains on white plastic. I think someone at Hasbro had some foresight and decided to dirty up the Trooper with a bit of blaster fire. Smart move. Not sure whether these tees will, in fact, stain the figures, but if they do, it might just blend in enough to keep your figure out of the trash bin.
I acknowledge these figures are a blatant cash grab. A manufactured “holiday” for one of the biggest cash cows of all time feels gross. I’d love to see Disney tie in some charitable contributions to the 501st or the Peter Mayhew Foundation to make it more of a FORCE for good rather than profit. I don’t know if it would motivate me to purchase them at regular price, but it might make me a little more willing to welcome an 8th Stormtrooper to my collection and help a good cause along the way.
