‘Bad Boys For Life’ Will Put Will Smith and Martin Lawrence Back On Top Of The Box Office

Whatcha gonna do this weekend when Martin Lawrence and Will Smith come for you?

That’s right, Bad Boys For Life is hitting theatres, seventeen years after the previous film, Bad Boys 2 made a killing at the box office. That’s a long time between films, to be sure, but judging by the buzz, there’s a fan base who is eagerly anticipating this new instalment. Will Smith is in need of a hit following the poor response to last fall’s Gemini Man, and this is the movie to do it. Look for Bad Boys For Life to debut in first place this weekend with $45 million.

Also, new this weekend is the family film Dolittle, starring Robert Downey Jr. Coming off the highs of his Marvel work, you’d think a new RDJ film would be a slam dunk. Unfortunately, Dolittle is not that. The Princess and I saw a screening last weekend and we both thought the movie was…fine. The special effects were fine. RDJ’s performance was fine, though it is mainly dour with nearly no joy. Unfortunately, fine isn’t going to cut it and I think Dolittle will do little at the box office. Look for a third place debut with $20 million.

As for the rest of the top five, last week’s number one 1917 will drop to second place with $23 million. Jumanji: The Next Level will grab the fourth spot with $13 million, while Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will be in fifth place with $10 million.

So, to recap, here are our predictions:

1) Bad Boys For Life – $45 million
2) 1917 – $23 million
3) Dolittle – $20 million
4) Jumanji: The Next Level – $13 million
5) Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker – $10 million

Be sure to check back on Sunday to see how the weekend turns out!
