This weekend sees the release of Night School. which combines the talents of both Kevin Hart and Tiffany Hadish. That duo is a virtual guarantee for a strong opening weekend, even if reviews are being less than kind. I should say, reviews are being really, really unkind.
In fact, they’re horrible. Night School currently sits at 24% on Rotten Tomatoes. However, that won’t sop the film from nailing a solid debut. Look for a first place showing with $29 million.
As for the rest of the top five, the new family film Smallfoot is entering the fray with better notices than Night School (it’s 75% fresh as of this writing), and it’s been a little while since we’ve had an animated movie available for audiences. Look for a second place debut with $25 million.
The House With A Clock In Its Walls will drop to third place with $15 million, followed by A Simple Favor in fourth with $7.5 million. The Nun should close things out in fifth place with $6.5 million.
So, to recap, here are our predictions:
1) Night School – $29 million
2) Smallfoot – $25 million
3) The House With A Clock In Its Walls – $15 million
4) A Simple Favor – $7.5 million
5) The Nun – $6.5 million
Be sure to check back on Sunday to see how the weekend turns out!
