All the box office has been a stage this week, as Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible – Fallout has been the big hit around the world. Will any new releases be able to take down Cruise?
The answer to that one is yes, and it comes in the form of Disney’s Christopher Robin, a family film starring the beloved characters of AA Milne, including Winnie The Pooh, Tiger, Piglet, and more. It’s been a few weeks since families have had a new option at the box office, and Christopher Robin is definitely going to be a must-see. Look for a first place debut with $35 million
As for the rest of the top five, Mission: Impossible – Fallout will drop to second place with $32 million. The Spy Who Dumped Me, a new release starring Kate McKinnon and Mila Kunis, will debut in third place with $17 million. I wouldn’t expect too much from this one, as neither actor are big draws, at the film has been getting so-so reviews. Following in fourth will be another new release, The Darkest Minds, another dystopian adaptation of a young adult novel. Look for it to bring in $9 million. Finally, Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again to close things out in fifth place with $7 million.
So, to recap, here are our predictions:
1) Disney’s Christopher Robin – $35 million
2) Mission: Impossible – Fallout – $32 million
3) The Spy Who Dumped Me – $17 million
4) The Darkest Minds – $9 million
5) Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again – $7 million
