Will Exodus: Gods and Kings Climb The Mountain – Biff Bam Pop’s Box Office Predictions

After the slowness that was last weekend, Hollywood should be happy to see a guaranteed epic arrive on the scene. But will “thou shalt see this movie” command audiences into theaters this weekend? Here’s our prediction:

Exodus2014PosterExodus: Gods and Kings is a retelling of the Biblical story of Moses, staring Christian Bale, Joel Edgerton, Sigourney Weaver, Ben Kingsley and Aaron Paul, and directed by Ridley Scott. The big name draws are clearly Bale and Scott, a combination that should make for an entertaining film and some decent box office returns. Reviews so far have been mixed, but audiences needs a spectacle and Exodus: Gods and Kings should deliver. Look for a first place debut with $35 million.

As for the rest of the top five, look for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 to slip to second place with $19 million. Penguins of Madagascar will hit third place with $8 million. Chris Rock’s new film Top Five should debut in limited release at fourth place with $6 million, while Big Hero 6 will close things out in fifth place with $5 million.

So, to recap, here are our predictions:

1) Exodus: Gods and Kings – $35 million
2) The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 – $19 million
3) Penguins of Madagascar – $8 million
4) Top Five – $6 million
5) Big Hero 6 – $5 million

Be sure to check back on Sunday to see how the weekend turns out!
