TMNT Take Down The Expendables – Biff Bam Pop’s Weekend Box Office Wrap-Up Report

If anyone had any expendable cash this weekend, they weren’t spending it on the latest instalment of The Expendables. Here’s what went down:

Teenage_Mutant_Ninja_Turtles_film_July_2014_posterFor the second weekend in a row, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles held firm at the top of the box office, bringing in an excellent $28.4 million to raise the film’s total to $117 million in two weeks. Following in second place was Guardians of the Galaxy with $24 million, bringing its three week total to $222 million. There’s a strong possibility, should GotG continue its strong hold, the film could become the most successful of the year before long. Who would have thought it?

Coming in third is the cop movie Let’s Be Cops, with $17.7 million. Which brings us to The Expendables 3, which had an absolutely lacklustre debut with just $16 million. Audiences are clearly uninterested in the concept anymore, even with more stars and bigger explosions. Finally, in fifth we have The Giver, which debut with $12 million.

So, to recap, here were our predictions:

1) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – $25 million
2) Guardians of the Galaxy – $24 million
3) The Expendables 3 – $22 million
4) Lets Be Cops – $14 million
5) The Giver – $12 million

And here’s how the weekend turned out

1) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – $28.4 million
2) Guardians of the Galaxy – $24 million
3)  Lets Be Cops – $17.7 million
4) The Expendables 3 – $16 million
5) The Giver – $12 million

Next weekend sees the release of Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. Will it make it to the top of the box office? Check back on Friday to see our predictions!

  1. Expendables 3 also leaked to the internet a few weeks ago, which has probably not helped.
