A Painful Start For Pain & Gain – Biff Bam Pop’s Weekend Box Office Wrap-Up Report

It was a lacklustre weekend at the box office, with two new releases not exactly lighting up the screens. On the plus side, we’re less than a week away from the release of Iron Man 3. Here’s what went down.

pain_and_gain_trailer_h_2012Pain & Gain, the new film from Michael Bay, managed to hit number one, but it did so with just $20 million, a far cry from the numbers Bay is used to seeing with his mindless Transformers films. Reviews have been absolutely mixed at this point for Pain & Gain (see Rolling Stone’s Peter Travers’ hilarious take on it here), and it’s safe to say the film will be crushed come next week at this time.

Find out how the rest of the top five turned out after the jump!

The other new release of the weekend was The Big Wedding, which turned out to be a big bomb, grossing just $7.5 million to hit fourth place.

1) Pain & Gain – $45 million
