It’s hard to pick just one since there were so many great characters; but one of my favorite characters is Starbuck because she’s one kick-ass woman.
I loved Colonel Saul Tigh. Why? He was so damn complicated!
Adama. To me, this character embodies all that a leader should be; inspiration, dedication and duty tempered by humanity.
Well, I haven’t seen the new BSG – maybe that’s why I should win. My favourite character from the old series was Admiral Adama played by Canadian Lorne Greene.
Colonel Tigh for me because 1. he was such a badass 2. he had to wear a patch over one eye for half the series 3. his disdain for cylons and the conflict therein combined with his devotion to humans 4. the way he said Frak was better than anyone else on the show 5. the breadth of acting required for his character was immense. 6. “If the crew doesn’t hate the XO, then he’s not doing his job”
Got to be Aaron Doral. Because it’s funny to see someone as a Cylon on TV and then go out with him in person and see him drunk.
Boomer… w/o a doubt.
Bill “Husker” Adama. The way he commands his crew and the real-ness of his character really draws you into the story. His professional and personal relationship with Laura Roslin really plays on your emotions, especially in the final few minutes of the series, after all they have been through together. (no spoilers here) haha Such a fantastic character and a wonderful progression from start to finish.

You people are CRAZY… Dr. Gaius Baltar is the best character. He’s the most developed and deeply thought out person in the series… and so compelling!!!
It’s hard to pick one… but if you watched the webisodes then ‘Number 8’ becomes a pretty awesome character (Sharon cylon)
Hands-down: Starbuck cuz she’s one bad-ass pilot. Like the Han Solo of BSG. Starbuck rules!
Admiral Adama, he is the man I wish to be.
Starbuck because you could always tell how well things were going by the length of her hair and she was never afraid to fight for what she wanted.
Starbuck because she kicks a$$ and looks HOT while doing it.
If I had to pick one character it would be President Laura Roslin. Why? The moment that hooked me in was when the realization hit Roslin when she learned she was the highest ranking survivor within the government to takeover the presidency.
That whole scene was incredibly powerful and moving as she accepted with tears in her eyes.
Not having seen the final season yet I’m gonna say the Chief Tyrol cause he’s so damn sympathetic. He just gets dealt crappy hand after crappy hand and you just want it all to work out for him.
Number 5 and copies… The Aaron Doral character is just plain cold and harsh adding complexity, layers and even disgust disguised as fear. The thought (from viewers) of having someone, or something, like that in your life would certainly create cause for concern. That character helped keep the BSG engine churning even though he was not a top billing character
Without a doubt, Dr. Gaius Baltar. His character growth is the most compelling story of the series.
My fave Battlestar Galactica character would have to be Number Six. Smoking hot and such a complex character.
Definitely Starbuck. I wasn’t sure a female could pull off that character. Sackhoff did a great job.
Not only an integral character to the plot, Starbuck is pretty fascinating character to watch (not to mention drool over) throughout the whole series. Considering that Starbuck was a man in the originally series, Sackhoff does a fantastic job of making the character her own. With that, obviously Starbuck takes the cake.
Starbuck…love kickass sci-fi ladies!
Kara Thrace is the best character – awesome pilot and even death couldn’t keep her down for long.

Dr. Gaius Baltar was my favorite character on the show, not too many actors can pull off a likeable villian. I especially enjoyed his comedic interactions with Number Six. Their chemistry was powerful.
On a side note, I also like how the killed off Boxey and Muffit right off the hop. I knew then that it was going to be a great series.

Commander William Adama: There’s a reason you separate military and the police. One fights the enemies of the state, the other serves and protects the people. When the military becomes both, then the enemies of the state tend to become the people.

My favorite character was Six, the red dress Six that appeared in the first episode. Besides her allure, she was the one responsible for the conflict among the Cylons. I think its great that she fell for Baltar despite his ‘imperfections’ because it really proved that the Cylons, the ones who were aware they were actual Cyclons, were not just complex machines but complex individuals. Her classy and sophisticated sex appeal also hooked a lot of people who didn’t know what Battlestar Galactica was about and helped give the show its large fan base.
My favourite character was Lee Adama / Apollo… He works so hard to be a good guy and do the right thing, despite the completely frakked up situation that he and the crew find themselves in, which motivated him to side with President Roslin against his father. Also, his complicated on-off relationship with Kara Thrace is like the monkey wrench in the gears–it’s always pulling him in a different direction, but he can’t help himself. And finally, he tries to make things right with Dualla, but he can’t stop her suicide, and takes her death pretty hard. He’s a good guy in extreme circumstances.
I was able to get attached to each character whether they were the good or bad guy. My most favorite would have to be Starbuck. It’s obvious to how badass she is, but I feel like her character grew a lot. She lives by her own rules and is great at what she does. When you see her outside of her tough girl exterior, you could see how compassionate/caring she really was. Like when she thought the little girl was hers. She hated her at first, but later started to really care for her.
Starbuck is my favorite, she’s a tough chick and can handle herself well in all kinds of bad stuff. Plus she’s not to hard to look at. 🙂
Apollo – Best actor on the show
No doubt, for me its Deck Chief Tyrol.
Every character in Battlestar goes through a journey by the end, but Tyrol has my favourite arc and growth, from his beginnings with Sharon to the progression of his betrayal, marriage, all his sorrows and and wins and losses. By the end he’s not exactly a different person, but he’s a person who has seen and experienced so much more than at the series’ beginning, and dealt with a lot of the most arbitrary and surprising life changes. I always felt Galen Tyrol’s emotional travels the most. (And, you know, it helps that Aaron Douglas was so crazy talented).

i enjoyed Dr. Gaius Baltar. he was very humorous and intelligent. he had his ups and downs in the series, but he played a great villain.
