The Grinderhouse Halloween Party will feature the premiere of 3 killer horror films:
STRAIGHT TO HELL RETURNS 6:30pm
Before Tarantino and Rodriguez, 80s cult director Alex Cox (Repo Man, Sid and Nancy) traveled to Almeria to make his own spaghetti western, but the “digital technologies of violence and grotesquesness then (back in 1986, when Courtney was still a baby and Shane an innnocent genius and Strummer resembled the young Michael Caine)” just wasn’t gory enough so he went back and added six new scenes, digitally improved the effects added a new 5.1 stereo soundtrack by Academy Award Winner Richard Beggs, and a new color design by cinematographer Tom Richmond for a “longer, crueler Returns.”
MILLENNIUM BUG 8:30pm with Director in attendance!
Completely free of CGI monsters, this hillbilly horror meets creature feature has been a critical fave on the festival circuit. When the Haskin family seeks refuge from Y2K hysteria in the isolated forests of the Sierra Diablos mountains, madness and terror find them there.
Abducted by a vicious hillbilly clan, the Haskins fight for survival, but neither they nor the hillbilly Crawfords can comprehend the monstrous nightmare about to erupt from the bowels of the earth.
BONG OF THE DEAD 10:00pm
Shot for $5000 with one camera over 15 days, director Thomas Newman spent two years painstakingly learning post-production programs and compositing 355 shots himself. The film sees meteorites from outer space cause an all out zombie outbreak, leaving only a few survivors. Tommy and Edwin are a pair of stoner buddies who keep themselves occupied by growing and smoking as much pot as humanly possible.
One day they discover that by using zombie brains as fertilizer, they are able to grow a strain of super potent weed. In order for them to be able to keep a constant surplus of pot they must find more zombies! Together they embark on a road trip in search of zombies but end up finding more than they bargained for in this hilarious action adventure comedy! This film gives a new meaning to the word “Munchies.”
The Grinderhouse Halloween Party features all this for just $14 at the door; or RSVP NOW to get 2 for 1 entry.
See you Friday night, horror fans!
