The Movie Minx Reviews: Little Fockers = Big Laughs

The holiday season is one of the best times of year for great movie releases. There’s no shortage of films vying for your box office bucks right now. If you’re a fan of the Meet the Parents franchise, you’ll be happy to know that the latest installment, Little Fockers is a great holiday treat.

Reprising all the favorite characters from the first 2 movies (Meet the Parents & Meet the Fockers) are the amazing all-star cast of Robert DeNiro, Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Dustin Hoffman, Barbara Streisand, Blyth Danner, and Teri Polo with some fresh faces too: Jessica Alba, Laura Dern, and Harvey Keitel. Little Fockers picks up a few years down the line from Meet the Fockers, when Greg & Pam’s twins are turning 5. The physical jokes are fairly well balanced with the sentimentality of the plot, even if the bodily function jokes are abundant. The movie opens strong with some good Andy Garcia jokes within the first few minutes, and winds up strong with one of the funniest Jaws homages I’ve seen near the end of the film.

The long story short is if you liked Meet the Parents, you will find something to laugh at in Little Fockers. It’s pretty safe for families, if you’re kids are either too young to get the sexual innuendoes or sensible enough to handle them. (It’s rated PG-13 for “mature sexual humor throughout, language and some drug content”) I laughed out loud repeatedly which is my meter of a good comedy. Now I just want to re-watch the first two again! Little Fockers opens wide in theaters this Wednesday.

Happy Holidays and happy movie going!
