TIFF season is right around the corner. Film premieres and tons of celebs will descend upon Toronto and I’ll be running around the city trying to fit in as many screenings as I can. But until then, I’ve still got more great music coverage for you. In this week’s instalment of What’s Going On, we’ve got news on big new albums from ADÉLA and Tiny Habits. Plus, so much more. ADÉLA – There’s no shortage of pop hopefuls striving to take their place at the centre of the zeitgeist. Right now, ADÉLA is up to bat with her brand-new album PRIMA, a wildly ambitious debut that proves she’s got the charisma, hooks and sheer audacity to back up the hype. Her new single “Nicole Kidman” gets the full movie-star treatment, with Hannah Lux Davis packing its video with loving nods to the Aussie icon’s most unforgettable roles, from Moulin Rouge to Eyes Wide Shut. Equal parts maximalist pop, vulnerability and pure main-character energy, ADÉLA is clearly hoping to be a force in pop for years to come. And yes, Nicole Kidman is an ADÉLA fan!

Oso Oso – Do you know Oso Oso? If you’re unfamiliar, Oso Oso is the brainchild of Long Island songwriter Jade Lilitri. The outfit just dropped “know you know me better,” a loud, upbeat pop-punk blast that announces their forthcoming album, an exchange of information, due out October 17 via Feral Twin. The new project sees Oso Oso expanding on their emo and pop-punk roots while pushing their sound into fresh territory. We’re all for sonic growth!

Tiny Habits – Tiny Habits are embracing the beautiful chaos of love on Keepers, their sophomore album out now via Mom+Pop Music. The group also recently dropped their latest single “Love Ruins Everything,” a hilarious grass-is-always-greener tale of wanting a relationship when you’re single, then craving freedom once you’re coupled up. We’ve all been there! Expanding beyond their folk-pop roots into a more playful soul sound, the trio’s signature harmonies remain intact as they sing about growing, changing and figuring it all out.

SNACKTIME – Philadelphia’s SNACKTIME is entering a fresh chapter! The buzzworthy soul/funk collective signed with Thirty Tigers and dropped a sunny new single, “Can’t Imagine Why You’d Stay,” a shiny anthem about relationship dysfunction. Blending Prince-esque beats, retro ‘80s-tinged guitars and a huge hook, the single captures the seven-piece’s infectious live energy while revealing a more vulnerable side. After tearing up Newport Folk Festival and Lollapalooza this summer, SNACKTIME are clearly ready for their next level.

Braden Lam – Canadian indie-folk songwriter Braden Lam is out now with “Coquihalla,” an upbeat new single marking his first music since 2025’s acclaimed debut, The Cloudmaker’s Cry. Inspired by B.C.’s infamous “Highway Through Hell,” the track turns fear, uncertainty and life’s sharp turns into something surprisingly exhilarating. Recorded live to tape in Los Angeles, “Coquihalla” finds Lam leaning into discomfort and discovering the freedom on the other side. He’s got something special!
