I’m a big fan of the first Resident Evil film, starring Mila Jovovich and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson. It’s not a straight adaptation of the fantastic video game series, but it has its own charm and virtues. The series arguably went downhill after the first film, and the reboot, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, was not great either.
Now we’ve got another reboot of the series, but this time it comes from director Zach Cregger, who is responsible for the excellent films Barbarian and Weapons. He’s got a unique vision, and I’m feeling pretty good that he’s going to deliver a great Resident Evil film.

Here’s the log line: From the mind of visionary filmmaker Zach Cregger (Weapons, Barbarian) comes a thrilling — and terrifying — reinvention of the Resident Evil franchise. In an all-new story, Resident Evil follows Bryan (Austin Abrams), a medical courier who unwittingly finds himself in an action-packed, non-stop race for survival as one fateful, horrifying night collapses around him in chaos.
