Figure Friday: It’s Convention Exclusive Season!

With San Diego Comic Con quickly approaching, we’re starting to see more and more announcements for convention exclusives. Walmart is also running their Collector Con online July 23-24. Here’s a rundown of some of the exclusives that are catching my eye.

Jada Toys Ultra Street Fighter II Versus Twin Pack

I’m a bit shocked it’s taken so long to get a two-pack from Jada’s Street Fighter line. Available exclusively at Walmart Collector Con: Red Guile vs Blue M. Bison are simple repaints that expand the line for completists or deliver that special niche colour you always selected when choosing your fighter. They won’t be for everyone, but some folks will absolutely have to have them.

Dwayne, Dwayne, Dwayne. I miss this version of you. You were young and egotistical, but you still managed to laugh at yourself. How surreal to have them make an action figure of you back when you were trying to thirst trap 18- 19-year-old girls? I have no idea why they included an alternate head of present-day Dwayne, but it’s extremely unnerving on that body. Make sure to grab your Sexy Time Rock during Walmart Collector Con.

Hasbro Marvel Legends Secret Wars Doctor Doom

Dr Doom was in the very first line of Secret Wars figures back in the ’80s. It’s only natural for him to receive his own single-carded release in the retro style. I was never a big fan of stripped-down “I’ll do it myself” Doom, though I do appreciate his willingness to get his hands dirty. I just prefer a more regal Doom with a cape.

McFarlane DC Multiverse Collector Edition Wonder Woman

Todd has avoided giving fans a proper Wonder Woman since the line began. This is a pretty great figure… but I think I need to see it in person. I see what they were trying to do with her hair. I just don’t know that it translates well in plastic form. It just looks… off? I have to imagine the customizers will have something much better in the near future. Grab the body and look for a better head down the road. I have to imagine this one’s gonna be tough to get, with the line winding down and Todd’s lack of quality Wonder Woman figures.

The Real Ghostbusters – Citizen Ghost 1/12 Scale Figure Set – Timed Edition

Mondo’s Real Ghostbuster figures have been a big success from all of the reviews I’ve read. I kick myself for not being able to afford the line from the beginning, but I’ve got bills to pay. This set is a great option for anyone like me who missed out on the originals. The evil green ghost’s head and hands are swell, but you also get the human versions packed in. So it’s a great little one-and-done set if you don’t mind the gray jumpsuits on the animated figures. Grab them when they go live during San Diego Comic Con.

Decked out in supernatural covered jumpsuits and wielding corrupted proton packs, these green ghostly doppelgängers turn the hunters into the hunted in one of the series’ most iconic showdowns. 

This set includes Ghost Peter, Egon, Ray, and Winston, featuring a translucent material with glow in the dark “spectral” attachments on their eyes and mouth, as well as glow in the dark attachable “marshmallow” goo. The set is made complete with a load of accessories including swappable Human heads and hands, proton packs, Slimer, Orange ghost, Bug-eyed ghost, and more!
