I found something… I found a place…It’s massive in there. It just goes on and on and on. All these rooms. This place built them. Actually more like it remembers them. And the more times it remembers something, the less it does.
One of the most anticipated horror films of the year from one of the most exciting new voices in the genre gave us our first glimpse this morning, as A24 unleashed the first teaser for (19-year-old!) Kane “Pixels” Parsons’ Backrooms. The liminal found-footage nightmare that has been terrifying the world on YouTube for the past four years and about 22 episodes was picked up for a feature adaptation by A24, which will be released in May of 2026.

Composed of a series of identical-seeming, yellow-tinged office spaces that are accessed by “no-clipping” out of reality and into a parallel universe, the new teaser consists of a voiceover describing the circular and esoteric nature of the titular rooms, which the log line claims come about when “a strange doorway appears in the basement of a furniture showroom.” The film stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Mark Duplass, Lukita Maxwell, Renate Reinsve, and Avan Jogia.
Check out the teaser trailer here, ahead of Backrooms‘ release on May 29, 2026.
Kane Parsons’ ‘Backrooms’ comes to theatres on May 29, 2026 from A24, Atomic Monster, Chernin Entertainment and 21 Laps Entertainment.
