Have you ever walked in your sleep? Have you ever dealt with night terrors? Is a person’s soul capable of astral projection? When a grieving mother deals with a tragic death, her terrifying sleepwalking episodes hint at a darker secret.

Sleepwalker
I am pretty surprised at how much I like Sleepwalker, which was directed by Brandon Auman and stars Hayden Panettiere, Beverly D’Angelo, Justin Chatwin, Mischa Barton, Corinne Sweeney, Lori Tan Chinn and Kea Ho. The film was produced by Verdi Productions & Appian Way (Leonardo DiCaprio). As a psychic/medium, I think the storyline was pretty close to what I have experienced with people in comas…But I will get back to that explanation at the conclusion of this review.
Sarah Pangborn (Hayden Panettiere) is an accomplished artist who lives with her young son, Holden (Laird LaCoste), and her mother, Gloria (Beverly D’Angelo). Sarah is grieving the death of her young daughter, Aimee (Corinne Sweeney), who died in a car accident. Sarah’s ex-husband Michael (Justin Chatwin) is in a coma from said accident. Since the accident, Sarah has been plagued by episodes of sleepwalking that have put her in a few dangerous situations. In her sleepwalking episodes, she is trying to flee her abusive husband. Joelle (Mischa Barton), Michael’s sister, is also having bad dreams, as is Sarah’s son, Holden.
Afraid that her comatose husband has found a way to harm her, Sarah agrees with her mother’s suggestion to bring in a medium to purify the house. When Bai Zhao (Lori Tan Chinn) arrives, she realizes that there is something more sinister going on than a regular haunting. People start dying.
Conclusion
Sleepwalker will be available on demand on January 9th. I strongly suggest that you watch it. The storyline and the acting are superb. Okay, now back to my experience with people in comas. Many, many years ago, I worked in the Intensive Care Unit of a neighbourhood hospital in South Philadelphia. I dealt with people dying and people in comas. No walls were separating my work area from the nine patient beds in the unit.

We had a patient brought to the unit who was in a coma. He was a priest travelling from Germany. This is in the mid 1970’s, so I do not remember his diagnosis, but he was in a coma for a long time. When he finally awoke from his coma, he told us what he had been experiencing while in a coma. That man not only travelled around the hospital but also around the neighbourhood surrounding it. What he told us was accurate, including the names of neighbourhood shops he would not have seen, as he had been rushed to our hospital from the airport.
Can our souls travel outside our bodies while we sleep or if we are in a coma? I would have to say yes. I have experienced this phenomenon firsthand with dying family members. When I am doing a psychic reading for my clients, I sometimes pick up on family members who are either in a coma or suffering from end-stage Alzheimer. And because the soul has one foot in this world and one foot in the next, I am sometimes able to let the client know what is happening with their loved ones. I am not able to do this all the time, but it does happen enough to remind me just how powerful our souls truly are.
Sleepwalker has a surprise ending, so make sure that you watch it on demand on January 9th.
